The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) is a European Union law that specifies rules for data protection and privacy. It aims to allow citizens and residents to have control over their personal data. It was adopted in April of 2016 and becomes enforceable as of May 25, 2018.
What does this mean for SiteSpect users? We want you to be able to assure your customers that their personal data is safe with you. As such, we've created a new feature called Enable GDPR Compliance. When you select this feature, all consumer data that flows through SiteSpect is GDPR compliant. This means that SiteSpect neither collects nor stores the full IP address of the end user.
To turn on GDPR compliance:
- Select Site, Configuration, Site Settings, Security.
- Select Enable GDPR Compliance.
If you enable GDPR compliance, SiteSpect ensures that all consumer data flowing through SiteSpect is GDPR compliant. This means that SiteSpect neither collects nor stores the full IP address of the user. This means that you won't be able to create report segments based on IP address. In addition, you cannot debug based on IP address from the access logs. All other features (such as Geo Location Audiences) remain unaffected.
